Our Beliefs

What We Believe

1. We believe in one God in three persons (what Christians call “The Trinity”): God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

2. We believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe that he died for our sins on the cross, rose on the third day, and is coming again.

3. We believe that people cannot earn salvation by their own good deeds; rather we are saved by God’s grace (or undeserved favor) received freely through faith in Jesus Christ.

4. We believe that Bible is given of divine inspiration, gives us the wisdom to receive salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and is the rule of Christian faith and practice.

5. We believe that the best church government is the local church government. The congregation (members of our local church) govern the church.

6. We believe the Gospel, or Good News, of Jesus Christ For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

a. We Are All Sinners Who Deserve Death • No one is good -- not even one…for all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. – Romans 3:10, 23 • For the wages of sin is death… - Romans 6:23

b. We Can Receive Forgiveness of Sins and Eternal Life Through Faith in Jesus Christ • Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who freed us by taking away our sins. – Romans 3:24 • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23 • Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and You Shall be Saved - Acts 16:31 • For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved...Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. – Romans 10:9, 13 If you know that you are a sinner, and you want to be forgiven for all your sins, receive the gift of eternal life and begin a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, we invite you to pray the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I need a Savior. I believe that you died for my sins and rose again from the dead. I put my trust in you for my salvation and ask you to come into my heart as my personal Lord and Savior. In your name I pray, Amen.

7. We Accept the Creed We often recite the Apostles’ Creed during our Sunday worship as an affirmation of our faith. It is a brief and traditional summary of Christian faith. The text is below:

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: he was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. On the third day, he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God that Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
